"Hinc Illae Lacrimae " Alexander Weir's past takes center stage as the events which led him to Melissa are revealed. Meanwhile, tensions between Chase and her partner grow, and a temporary reassignment leads Roland to a revealing encounter with Robin Quick.
Jonathan Overby and Jennifer Reagan reprise their roles as John Alessandro and Alisson Daniels, from the Boston Actors Theatre production of Hence These Tears.
Gary Ciambrone and Rachell Padell also return to the roles they originated.
There are a number of references to the stage production, including several flashbacks to events which occured during the play. The photograph of the Alessandro Family seen in the prologue is from the original production.
The opening scene between Alisson and Xander, along with sequences involving Cassie Meeks (Alexandra McDougall) were shot a year after filming on the episode was completed.

the discovery of evidence linking Melissa Weller to the Dabareh
Corporation, Chase and Roland decide to pay a visit to the new Babylon
Research Facility to speak with the new director of Special Projects,
John Alessandro. Meanwhile, Rhea's curiosity about her father's death
leads to tension at home. Special Guest Star: Penny Benson. Directed by

Episode Trivia: Considered to be the "Geek Episode," Sien Souhitent includes references to Battlestar Galactica, and Doctor Who.
Composer Laurie Ann Schillinger provides some quick voice over work during a key scene early on.
Xander's appearance in this episode recalls the moment Chase relates to Rhea about how she and Andrew first met.
This is the first time we see Dabareh's Babylon Research Facility, first mentioned in Eye on the Commonwealth. |

"Sien Souhitant: Part Two"
Following their excursion to Dabareh, Chase is immediatly confronted by
Dabareh's legal counsel, Lindsey Park, prompting a severe reprimanding
from Doug (John Depew).
Taking
Xander up on his offer of talking later, Chase heads to his school
where the two discuss their memories of Melissa. Meanwhile, Colleen
(Molly McDowell) causes problems at home for Rhea. |

Episode 2 "Vade Retro" |

"Vade Retro : Part One" picking
up where the pilot left off, Detective Chase Quinn (Danielle
Kellermann) begins her investigation into the murder of Melissa Weller
(Shaine Carney). However, the discovery of strange markings on the
girl's body and a chance encounter with a ghost from her past, unearth
painful memories and hint at a troubling connection between Melisa and
the events in San Jose.
Episode
Notes : This marks the first episode in which Paul Ezzy takes over as
Series Director of Photography. Joey Pelletier joins the cast as
Detective James O'Riley, after being mentioned briefly in the pilot.
Trivia
: The tattoo that appears on Melissa's leg isn't trick photography.
It's a simple visual gag familiar to many college students. The tattoo
was painted on the actress with laundry detergent that reacts when the
black light is passed over it.
The
whispers make a return appearance when Robin and Chase are arguing in
his office. Robin previously heard these mysterious voices before his
encounter with Mattie. |

"Vade Retro: Part Two"
Follwing her encounter with Robin Quick, Chase confesses to Roland
about her encounter in the parking garage, and offers some more insight
into James Prescott. When Roland decides to pay a visit to Mattie
Howard, Chase pays her respects to Melissa's mother, Deborah (Laureen
Evans) and makes a startling discovery.
Episode
Trivia: The scene in front of the statues was almost ruined when a
sudden and inexplicably heavy blizzard dumped several inches of snow on
the scene in a matter of minutes.
At the memorial service for Melissa, Xander briefly references the events of Hence These Tears.
The
business card chase finds in Melissa's room was actually a blank card
on the day of filming, as the logo had not yet been completed. The
card, as it appears in Episode 2 and 3 was created in post using CGI.
Fans of the show Hence These Tears may recognize the owner of the business card.

As the series opens, a couple on a romantic weekend getaway uncover the
body of a young woman. Meanwhile, Detective Chase Quinn (Danielle
Kellermann) and her adopted daughter, Rhea (Julia Specht) suffer though
an uncomfortable dinner with her overbearing parents. Part One of
Three.
Episode
Notes : Series Director of Paul Ezzy, contributed to only a few scenes
in the first episode, specifically the prologue. Other sequences in the
pilot were shot by students at the New England Institute of Art.
Trivia
: Although never mentioned during their brief appearance, the couple in
the prologue are named Bruce and Molly Green. The prologue itself had
the most cuts of any scene in the entire series. Uncut, the sequence
ran roughly 20 minutes in length |

"Pilot Part Two"
Robin Quick (Michael Simon) attempts to bring his friend Alexander Weir
(Andrew Rhodes) out of a depressive spiral with beer and some
questionable advice. Meanwhile, Chase's partner, Roland (Stephen Libby)
arrives with some unfortunate news. (Part Two of Three)
Episode
Trivia: Andrew Rhodes reprises his role from the Boston Actors Theater
production of Hence These Tears. The events to which he and Robin are
discussing reference this play and will be seen in greater detail later
in the series.
The
former Abbey Lounge bar was located on the town line between Cambridge
and Somerville, MA. A fact that is alluded to during their
conversation. As an in-joke, the scene was blocked in such a way that
Robin is technically sitting on the Cambridge side of the bar, with
Alexander seated in Somerville. |

"Pilot Part Three" With
the full weight of things to come and the task ahead of her, Chase
Quinn begins to realize that it may not be long before she can no
longer hide the truth from her daughter. With the pieces in place, a
final and unexpected turn of events sets this story in motion. (Part
Three of Three)
Episode Trivia:
Paul Ezzy, who takes over as Director of Photography in Episode 2, and
epiosde producer Brenna Bates can be seen leaving the bar prior to
Robin re-entering to get his jacket. Paul Ezzy appears as Glen Anderson
in the companion series "Eye on the Commonwealth"
